Frequently asked questions

  • How do I confirm my booking request?
    A deposit is requested to secure your booking.

  • Can I reserve a date for a future appointment?
    Yes, only once a deposit is paid.

  • Will I need a makeup trial?
    If you would like comfort in knowing how your makeup will look and last then this will be beneficial. This also helps to keep timings to schedule on the day.

  • Will there be enough time to do makeup on 4 or more people on my actual event date?
    Yes, please let Amanda know so timings can be organised in advance. It may mean a very early start for your party.

  • Does Amanda have makeup insurance?
    Yes, Amanda is insured and has public liability cover.

  • How does Amanda clean her makeup kit?
    Make-up brushes and tools are sanitised in between clients and washed at the end of the day. Eyeshadow palettes are sprayed with anti-bacterial cleansing spray. Disposable wands and spatulas are used where possible.

Payment

  • Does the deposit count towards my total payment?
    Yes, the remaining amount will be due at the time of your appointment. For a wedding, full payment is due the week leading to your big day.

  • Is my deposit refundable?
    Deposits cannot be refunded.

  • How can I pay? Bank transfer or cash.

  • Can I have a refund for the makeup Amanda has applied?
    Unfortunately, no money will be returned for any services received.

    Time

  • How long does it take to do a full makeup?
    The usual time frame is approximately 1-2 hours per person.

  • How long does it take to set up and tidy away your makeup kit?
    Set up time is 15 minutes. It takes 20 minutes to sanitise and tidy away make-up and tools at the end of an appointment.

Requirements

  • What is needed to complete a full makeup?
    A chair, A table, Natural light (or other) and hand washing facilities.

  • Do you use cruelty-free/vegan products?
    Yes, although not all products are. Please ask upon booking as arrangements can be made.

Travel Expenses

  • Is the cost of travel included in my makeup quote? Yes, once location has been discussed.

  • How much is the travel cost for locations more than 20 miles distance? For distances more than 20 miles from SG1 1HS, travel charges are 50p per mile.

  • Who will cover the cost of any congestion zone charge? Congestion charge is payable by the client.

  • Who will cover the cost for parking? Parking fees are charged to the client.

  • Who will cover the cost for any toll charges? Tolls are charged to the client.

    Client Responsibility

  • I have a medical condition, can I still have my makeup applied?
    It would be best to discuss with Amanda at the time of your booking.

  • I have a skin condition, can I still have makeup applied?
    In most cases, yes. Please discuss this with Amanda upon booking.

  • If I have an allergy can I still have my makeup applied?
    Yes, makeup products can be adapted to suit your allergies. Let Amanda know at the time of your booking.

Photography

  • Will you use my photograph on social media/other?
    If you have your photo taken it may be posted on social media, or other places on the internet for marketing or advertising purposes.

  • Can I choose not to share my photo?
    Yes, please let Amanda know before your photo is taken.

Cancellations

  • Can I cancel my makeup booking?
    Yes, although deposits are non-refundable. Please see below for more information.

  • Can I reschedule my makeup appointment?
    Yes, please let Amanda know 48 hours before your appointment is due to take place (this does not apply to wedding parties).

  • I need to cancel my wedding makeup, what do I do?
    8 weeks notice will need to be given for changes to weddings/bridal parties. No refund of deposit will be returned and full payment will be requested if notice is given in less than 8 weeks prior to the wedding.

  • What happens if Amanda cancels my booking?
    In an emergency, severe illness or unexpected circumstances should Amanda need to cancel, you will receive a refund of your deposit.

Covid Update

  • If Amanda has to cancel your booking because of restrictions, your deposit will be returned.

  • If any 1:1 make-up lessons are not able to go ahead in person they will continue virtually.

  • If you would prefer an online makeup lesson, this can be achieved via video call - through Skype, Zoom, or Microsoft teams. Amanda will guide you through each step of the makeup application with appropriate lighting and demonstrative techniques for you to follow along with.

  • No money will be returned for any services you have received.

  • Amanda has put into place extra hygiene steps that she will kindly ask you to follow alongside her at your future booking.

  • Anti-bacterial hand gel will be available at all appointments.

  • A Covid risk assessment is in place for safe measures.

  • Amanda has completed and passed the Covid hygiene courses for makeup professionals:
    - Barbacide Covid-19 certification.
    - Virtual collage health and safety Covid training certification.
